RINGING, VACCINATION & AGE OF PIGEON
The pigeons must be received with a ring corresponding to 2006, issued by any legally recognized Club. Pigeons should be of about one month of age. Once the pigeons are received, they will be vaccinated and ringed with rings for their electronic clock check, under FUNDECO's charge and supervision.
DOCUMENTATION TO SEND ALONG WITH THE PIGEONS
Pigeons must be sent along with ownership title. Required precise info must be sent in advance to FUNDECO, in order to perform the required processing by the organizing committee. This information must be sent in advance by fax or email. Corresponding pedigree may be sent up to one week before the first training release.
DELIVERY OR SHIPPING OF THE PIGEONS
The fancier that wishes to deliver his pigeons by hand must arrange with one of the persons established by the organization, which are listed in this website. These persons have been designated to taking care of arranging pickups for outside of Spain.
ENTRY FEE
Due to the number of prizes being awarded the fee is 100 euros.
ATTENTION & CARE OF THE BIRDS
Once inscription is completed, pigeons will belong to the Organization, which will be in charge of their safety, care, vaccination, feeding, observation and prescriptions by the Veterinary in charge. The Organization will also take care of the charges incurred by personnel, their maintenance and materials, the training and competition releases, etc. The Organization will also take care of the salary and Social Security of its workers.
TRAINING & COMPETITION RELEASES
There will be 10 Land training releases from different points of Gran Canaria, located at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 km. road distance away from the lofts. There will also be 3 Sea training releases, with direction to Fuerteventura/Lanzarote, at 25, 50 and 75 km. away from the Gran Canarian coast, so pigeons get used to fly over the sea, losing the fear of Ocean-crossing. There will be 4 competition releases from Morro Jable, Tarajalejo & Puerto del Rosario, all in Fuerteventura, plus the Final Release from Arrecife, in Lanzarote. The exact location, date & time will be decided upon weather conditions.
ORGANIZING MEMBERS' EXCLUSION TO PARTICIPATE
Pigeons belonging to Members of the Organization are not allowed to compete in the Derby. They may send pigeons but they will strictly participate under no competition status, therefore not being able to collect any prizes whatsoever. Only pigeons regulated under the present rules will be able to participate.
INFORMATION REGARDING THE STATUS AND RESULTS OF THE DERBY

FREE REPLACEMENT OF PIGEONS
Pigeons that the Organization do not basket before the first training sea release, due to pigeon loss or any other cause, will result in the owners of such pigeons to get this year’s entry fee credited for the same amount to next year’s Derby edition entry fee.
COMPETITION RELEASES CLOSURE
Each competition release will be considered over at 7:00pm on the day of the release.
AUCTION
Pigeons arriving from Lanzarote will be auctioned on the day of the Final, once 20% of them have arrived. The auction will take place at 5:00pm where the public have been cited.
50% of the final bidding amount will go for the owner, and the remaining 50% will go for FUNDECO.
FINAL NOTE
Taking into consideration the private character of the Derby, FUNDECO will resolve any questions or claims that may arise. FUNDECO reserves the right to modify the dates and/or number of training and/or competition releases should weather conditions or unavoidable factors recommend.
